Palm Beach Currumbin State High School proudly hosted its annual Craig Weston Medal Ceremony, recognising the outstanding achievements, dedication and commitment of our Rugby League Excellence students throughout the 2026 season.

The ceremony brought together students, staff, special guests, sponsors, former players and members of the wider REDS rugby league community to celebrate another successful year, both on and off the field.

2026 Craig Weston Medal Recipient

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the prestigious 2026 Craig Weston Medal to Jai, recognising his outstanding contribution, leadership and commitment to the REDS Rugby League Excellence program.

The ceremony also acknowledged the achievements of students across all six year levels, with the following players receiving the 2026 REDS Awards:

  • Year 7: Ky

  • Year 8: Nayte

  • Year 9: Beau

  • Year 10: Rico

  • Year 11: Max

  • Year 12: Kobi

Celebrating the REDS Legacy

One of the most special aspects of the ceremony was the opportunity to welcome back former REDS players and celebrate the lifelong connections created through the program.

Former PBC student and NRL legend Darius Boyd reflected on his return to the school, sharing, "I feel like I'm home being here today."

Mr Maccan also highlighted the strength of the REDS community, saying, "If you ring, they will come, and look at the turnout today of past REDS."

These sentiments reflected the strong sense of belonging, pride and connection that continues long after students graduate from PBC.

We were honoured to welcome Craig Weston, Darius Boyd, Ben Ikin, Ben Hannant, Keegan Hipgrave, Ryan Meskell, Kane Elgey, Rod Patison, Wendy Wise, Geoff Bagnall, Matt Keating and Aaron Aitkin.

It was also wonderful to welcome back PBC Old Boys Zane Harrison, Bailey McConnell, Isaac Harrison, Kaea Cribb, Brad Davis and Mark Dalle Cort, whose continued involvement demonstrates the lasting impact of the REDS program.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

The ongoing success of our Rugby League Excellence program is made possible through the dedication of our staff, coaches, families and valued community partners.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Nexus Mining Pty Ltd, Impact for Growth and Little Snappers Swim Schools for their generous support and continued commitment to creating opportunities for our students.

Another Outstanding Year for the REDS

The Craig Weston Medal Ceremony is an important tradition within the PBC Rugby League Excellence program, providing an opportunity to recognise not only sporting achievements but also the values of teamwork, resilience, leadership and commitment.

Congratulations to Jai, Rohan, our year level award recipients and every student who represented the REDS throughout 2026.

We are incredibly proud of the talent, determination and dedication demonstrated by our students and look forward to another exciting season in 2027.
