As you would be aware, the effects of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred are being felt in many communities across South East Queensland.
Thankfully, I am writing to inform you that Palm Beach Currumbin SHS will be open tomorrow, Tuesday 11 March.
Safety assessments
All required safety and risk assessments have been conducted and I can confirm it is safe for students and staff to attend our school.
Student absences
Please be mindful that some of our local roads, traffic signals and access to our school are affected. If this weather event poses a danger to your child travelling to school, please notify the school of your child’s absence as soon as possible. Absences can be advised via QParents noting ‘severe weather’ as the reason or text us on 0426305728 or absences@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au
Absences due to emergencies and natural disasters will not be recorded on a student’s report card.
Uniforms and other equipment
We appreciate that some families may have limited access to school uniforms and other equipment. Students are able to wear any school uniform (sports, sports ex or formal) to school for the remainder of the week. If you need assistance with replacement uniforms, please have your young person come to Y block or A block administration.
Transport services
If your child catches a bus or train to school, please check with your local transport service provider to confirm if their services will be operational tomorrow.
Monitoring the situation
Information about current weather conditions can be found on the Bureau of Meteorology website at www.bom.gov.au
