Immunisations
At PBC, both Year 7 and Year 10 students participate yearly in the School Immunisation Program (SIP). Vaccines offered annually to both year levels are:
Year 7 students:
- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
- Diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (whooping cough)
Year 10 students:
- Meningococcal A, C, W and Y
School Based Youth Health Nurses
PBC has an ongoing partnership with Queensland Health to provide a weekly, confidential service, available to all students with two School Based Youth Health Nurse's (SBYHN's) onsite and available for booking.
A team of SBYHN's deliver presentations on a termly basis to students Years 9-12 in relation to Healthy, Respectful Relationships and sexual consent.
Their role at PBC is to support students and their families around issues such as:
- Sexual Health
- Relationships
- Growth and Development
- Drugs and Alcohol
- Contraception and STIs
- Hygiene
- Mental Health
- Personal and Family Problems
- Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
