Palm Beach Currumbin State High is a partner school with Griffith University through the Griffith Connect program. PBC students have access to special opportunities such as the Guaranteed Admissions Scheme and an Academic  Excellence Scholarship.

Special Programs

Guests

Year 12 students can do a 1st year university subject. If the student passes the subject and has the correct pre-requisite school subjects, they will be given direct entry to a related program. For example; if a student passes 1005MSC (Cell Biology) and is doing General English and Maths Methods, they gain a place in a Science degree (basic, Biomedical, Forensic). There is no cost and the student gets credit for the subject in the subsequent univesity course.

GriffBio

GriffBio is a two-year part-time course designed for Year 11 and 12 students who want to get a head start on a health, medical or medical science career. GriffBio incorporates practical classes, clinical laboratories, demonstrations and lectures which add value to your secondary school biology subject and enables you to experience an integrated university course whilst completing your senior studies. On successful completion of GriffBio you are eligible to receive 10 credit points of unspecified credit in place of a free-choice elective towards the Biomedical and Medical Science programs which gives you savings on your HECS-HELP loan.

GriffBus

Students are eligible to apply for participation in the Griffith Business Year 12 Program if they are studying a Business subject including Accounting, Business Communication and Technologies, Business Organisation and Management or Economics. Students should be a high achieving student achieving at a VHA or HA level in at least one business subject and English.

GriffEng for aspiring Engineers

Students do two Experience Days in Year 11 and continue with a university subject in Year 12. If the student passes the program, they gain Direct Entry into an engineering degree. Students need to be studying General English, Maths Methods and Engineering Technology or Physics and achieving at a HA (B) level.

GriffHealth

GriffHealth is a two-year part-time course designed for Year 11 and 12 students who want to get a head start on a health or medical career. The course incorporates practical classes, clinical laboratories, demonstrations and lectures which add value to your secondary school health education subject and enables you to experience an integrated university course whilst completing your senior studies. On successful completion of GriffHealth you are eligible to receive 10 credit points of unspecified credit in place of a free-choice elective towards the Biomedical and Medical Science programs which gives you savings on your HECS-HELP loan.

Experience Days

Year 10, 11 and 12 students can visit Griffith University and spend a day learning about various courses including nursing, business, engineering, psychology, media, pharmacy, girls in sport, architecture and information technology.
