My Child has lost their school One2One laptop, what happens now?
Firstly, please advise the One2One Admin via one2one@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au. If the device is not found, then a replacement will need to be paid for. The One2One admin will work together with parents to have lost devices replaced.
My Childs School One2One laptop is damaged/not working as it should, who can they speak to?
The One2One Help Desk in the Library is where students need to take all concerns with their One2One laptop. Students can attend the One2One Help Desk during the below times:
Before school 8:00am – 8:50am
First Break 11:30am - 12:10pm
Second Break 1:20pm - 1:50pm
If the issue happens during class time your child’s teacher will decide if the issue is urgent. If urgent they may be granted time in class to see the One2One help desk.
What is the process for warranty and accidental damage repairs?
Students must log any concerns or accidental damage via the One2One help desk during the helpdesk opening times. The laptop will be assessed and either logged as a warranty claim or a damage repair.
Students will be issued with a loan laptop to use whilst their laptop is being repaired, and parent/guardians will receive an email to inform them of the logged job.
As outlined in the One2One contract, accidental damages are not covered under our 3-year laptop warranty and therefore there may be a cost involved. Parents/Guardians will receive an invoice either via email or mail from finance if there is a cost for the repair.
All warranty repairs are assessed by Acer in accordance with their warranty policy and Acer reserves the right to undertake further assessment of the device as part of Acer’s validation and/or verification process.
Once the laptop is repaired, an email will be sent to the student (to their school email address) asking them to collect their repaired laptop and return their loan laptop from the One2One help desk during the help desk opening times.

Year 7 and year 10 in 2026 Accidental Damage Repair Costs
In 2026 all year 7 and year 10 One2One Laptops have 3 year Acer Education Plus+ warranty. This means that there will be no cost to have the repair completed if it meets the criteria of covered damage.
Only one (1) replacement may be provided under the Acer Education Plus+ entitlement, and solely at Acer’s discretion. A replacement will only be considered if the cost of repair, either cumulative or from a single claim, exceeds the original purchase value of the device.
My child has lost their School One2One laptop charger, how can they purchase another one?
Chargers are available for purchase at our Finance window in D block or the Uniform shop for $49.
My child is moving schools, what happens with the School One2One laptop?
As your child prepares to leave Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, we wish to remind you of the requirements regarding their school-issued laptop.
All students who are unenrolling must either:
Return the school laptop in good working condition, along with the charger, prior to their final day of attendance.
Purchase the device by paying the outstanding cost, allowing it to be retained for personal use
To assist with this process:
Please note that all devices must be accounted for before your child’s final day.
School laptops are locked to the PBC SHS network and will not operate on another school’s system or for personal use unless purchased in full and re-imaged. Re-imaging removes school-specific restrictions and enables independent use. Please note, this process cannot be completed remotely and must occur before the device leaves school grounds if you elect to purchase it.
What is BYOD (Bring your own device) ?
BYOD is when students supply their own laptop instead of participating in the School One2One program. The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program is offered to students in Years 10-12 and allows students to bring an IT device to PBC that best supports their learning needs. Our I.T. department will support students with initial connection and onboarding for BYOD students, and this includes assistance with accessing the school’s Wi-Fi network and setting up any required educational software or platforms. However, please be aware that IT support does not extend to hardware repairs or installation of licensed software on personal devices.
Are Apple MacBooks allowed at PBC for a BYOD ?
Yes, student can use an Apple MacBook for their BYOD device. Please keep in mind that PBC SHS primarily operates on a Microsoft platform and therefore MacBook users may experience compatibility issue in certain applications as not all Microsoft applications are readily available on Mac devices.
