Our compartmentalised bins are collected daily by sustainability staff who sort and separate the waste to help ensure we reduce contamination, divert as much waste from landfill as possible, compost all food waste and maximise our revenue from the Containers For Change program.
The waste is taken to the occurs in our Sustainability Shed, which was paid for through a grant from Community Bank Tugun in 2020.
Since the implementation of our new bins and waste sorting process in 2023, we have significantly reduced our waste to landfill and our waste collection charges.
In 2024, we sent more than 1,200 fewer 240L general waste bins to landfill than we did in 2023. This equated to a more than 40% reduction in our waste collection bill for 2024.
