Guidance Officer

The Guidance Officer at PBC works closely with several other staff to help students with:
  • Careers (pathway options; info about university, TAFE and private colleges)
  • Subject Selection (electives from Year 9 to 11; levels of difficulty for Maths and English)
  • Senior Schooling (OP, Rank, QCE, SET Plans)
  • Educational difficulties (disabilities, literacy, numeracy, bullying)
  • Special programs (alternatives to full-time schooling)
  • Basic personal counselling (referrals are made to specialists in the community for students needing intensive counselling)

Our PBC Student Guidance Officers are Anna Willis and Steve Jones during school term.

Psychologist

Students and their families are able to access free, confidential and professional support from our school based psychologist.
For further information about accessing this voluntary service, please contact the Dean of Students office.
This project is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations under the National School Chaplaincy and Welfare Program.

Nurse

Judy Nunn is our School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN). Her role is to assist young people with issues affecting their health and wellbeing. Judy also provides support for the school curriculum and health promotion activities. Students make appointments for a confidential consultation with the Nurse directly through her office.

Report Bullying

The school has a zero tolerance to bullying commitment. If your student experiences or witnesses any incident that they believe may be bullying make sure that they talk to a  teacher or year coordinator. Feel free to relay concerns directly to the school by using the special email address reports@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au or alternatively phoning student administration.

Similarly, if you have a welfare concern or would like to alert us that you are concerned someone may be experimenting with drug or alcohol usage, please follow the same steps. Your communications are treated as confidential and our initial concern is always the wellbeing of students.
