Trade Training Centre

The Trade Training Centre services Palm Beach Currumbin State High and Currumbin Community Special School, with Palm Beach Currumbin State High being the Lead School.
The main purpose of the Trade Training Centre is to provide training in Hospitality and Cookery, and help address skills shortages in such areas, which could encourage articulation to Tertiary Studies and a broader range of job opportunities upon completion of High School.

To that end, the Trade Training Centre is currently used by Ignite Education in the delivery of their Certificate III Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) to full time apprentices from the catchment area of Coolangatta to Burleigh, and PBC’s own school based apprentices.

The Centre has also been used by Training Direct for delivery of their Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) to apprentices from Jupiter’s Casino, Gold Coast.
It has also been used for our students’ practice for the Secondary School Culinary Competition; and  by the Hospitality department to run pop-up restaurants and Coffee Shops for various functions, with cooking, coffee-making and serving carried out by the school’s Hospitality students.

The school is always looking for further opportunities to work with employers, training companies, and community organisations to enhance our students’ experience.

The Australian Federal Government provided funding to the cluster schools to build the Trade Training Centre.

The Recognition Ceremony was held on Thursday 3rd November, 2011. A plaque displaying the details of the project will be on display on the outside of the building.
