PBC have been given an incredible opportunity to participate in the State of Debate Challenge. We are only one of four schools selected from Queensland to oppose four New South Wales teams.

The Heroes and Legends Rugby League Museum have initiated the challenge where selected schools from Queensland and New South Wales are invited to debate on topics such as “That we should require TV channels to broadcast equal amounts of men’s and women’s sport” and “That we should dock competitive competition points from teams whose players misbehave”.

The first round will be held at Suncorp Stadium 21 June where Petro Civoniceva will open the event. The winning team from Queensland will then be flown to Sydney and debate “That we should ban betting on sport” at ANZ stadium immediately prior to the State of Origin final on Wednesday, 17 July. There will be a presentation dinner and teams will then be invited to watch the final.

Competition to be included in the challenge was fierce. PBC is proud to support Year 11 students Brittany Doherty, Jade Popova-Clark, Matt Kelly and Luke Ireland – champion debaters each and every one.
