Welcome to the beginning of a new year at Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.
We are excited to inform you of some fantastic news. After a very long process, and with the assistance of Cr Daphne McDonald, the Gold Coast City Council has decided to upgrade the Thrower Drive roundabout situated at the main entrance to the school. These changes will not only benefit the community but also provide safer access to the school.
The project was due for commencement in December 2014 with completion expected in late January 2015 in time for the start of the school year.
Unfortunately the project has commenced late and has been further delayed by the  inclement weather. As a result, the majority of the work will not be completed before school resumes.
Until the work is completed, and during the first few days of the school term, those driving to the school may experience traffic congestion and delays at the main entrance due to the road works.
To avoid this, it is suggested that the main entrance is avoided and that the following options be considered/adopted:
  • Enter the school car park further along Thrower Drive, and drop students at the PBC Theatre/Hall entrance, keeping to the left to allow traffic flow, and being mindful that this is a car park area.
  • Enter Sarawak Ave East (off Luzon Parade) follow to end, the dead end serves as a quick drop off area – students can then cross the  road at the pedestrian crossing lights.
  • Enter Salk Oval Car Park off Sarawak Ave West.  Students have a walkway directly to school, and pedestrian crossing.
Please note that there is NO STANDING at the schools main entrance as it is a School bus zone only.
Your understanding and patience during this project work is greatly appreciated and we look forward to the new work being finalised.
