P&C seeks your support to build new Multi-Purpose Learning Activity Centre

18/10/2013
The PBC parent community strongly supports the creation of new covered areas for students as a priority and last year applied to the State Government for a grant under the Smart Schools Subsidy Scheme (SSS) to assist in the construction of a Multi-Purpose Learning Activity Centre.

This area is currently known as the senior quadrangle which is situated in front of the senior canteen area between C Block and B Block.  This proposed student area will represent the largest covered space in the school and will have an estimated floor area of 875sqm and will accommodate 2000 students for whole school assemblies.  This space will also support and enhance student learning through physical education and performance based lessons.

We were successful in our application for funding and will receive the maximum subsidy of $237,407.00, however the total cost of this project is $451,074. The P&C will be contributing the shortfall of $213,667.00 but we need your help.

Please contribute to the Building Fund if you have not already done so.  We are asking for a contribution of $40.00.  All monies raised this year will be going directly to this project which is scheduled to begin in November. We have not yet reached our target funds in the Building Fund but with generous donations already received we are not far off our targets.

Your donations to this fund in recent years have enabled the P&C to support the school with much needed facility enhancements and maintenance programs for example - Extension to Q Block to build a Film/Television Studio and green room; refurbishment of the library and complete internal and external repaint of classrooms along with replacement of floor coverings in all classrooms.  We have had much positive feedback from parents, students and the community with the improvements that have been undertaken at PBC. Help us to continue this great work so that all students can enjoy a world class education amongst facilities that supports quality learning outcomes for all students.

Please donate to the Building Fund so we can continue to provide better facilities and more shade areas for our students. For any information regarding the project or the P&C, please feel free to contact me pandc@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au.
